It’s a common assumption that a property owner can hire a property manager to do the actual interacting with tenants and prospective tenants so the property owner can focus their attention on other things. However, many people aren’t aware that a property owner is often held liable for mistakes their manager makes, which can result in fines of tens of thousands of dollars. Here are some legal cases that illustrate that:

2010: MCAD, Maryluz Rodriguez & Marta Perez  v. Michael Price & Gloria Lombardi

2011: MCAD, Taylor Bryan & Elijah Bryan v. Bergantino Realty Trust & John Federico

2022: MCAD, Joshua Fortin and Nicole Evangelista v. Marty Green Properties, LLC, Martin Green, and Hang Ngo
